Abstract

Multi-walled carbon nanotubes, synthesized by pyrolysis of propylene on the ferruginous catalyst, were modified by oxidization with hydrogen peroxide and subsequent attaching of 2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate or acrylic acid. Samples of nanotubes were analyzed by XPS and IR-spectroscopy. It was shown that with the use of different initiators it is possible to form on surface of carbon nanotubers a covalently attached modified layer that contains the hydroxyl- or methacrylic groups.
